LSU AG Center's Chanelle Angeny lends a Hand
August 13, 2018
The J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home residents were attentively listening to Chanelle Angeny from the LSU AGCenter as she shared pointers for improved gardening. Chanelle is an Assistant Horticulture Agent. She brought the group several handouts to help improve the wonderful container garden the residents tend. Volunteer Mike Lofton, husband of the nursing home administrator Harriet Lofton, makes the garden possible. Mike says he is just trying to give back to the residents who have become his friends. The residents love gardening. Mike invited the LSU AgCenter to advise the group on improving their gardening skills in preparation for the fall garden.
J. M. Morrow Nursing Home is a 175 bed facility which was established in 1984.
Pictured L-R: Jeff Zerangue and Project Director, Mike Lofton, discuss the planting and the suggestions offered by Chanelle Angeny of the LSU AG Center. Mike established the container garden. He also added bird seed feeders and hummingbird feeders.
Frequently, the residents are entertained by rabbits hopping around in the field just beyond the garden.
